Roots on filmRoots are pleased to announce that documentaries made by an independent film-maker about the practice have been published on-line.

The first film is titled ‘Tiree:  A Changing Landscape’. It is a short documentary which follows Chris, Micheal, Joe and Bryce as part of their first exhibition and workshop on the Isle of Tiree in August 2009. The success of this event prompted Roots Design Workshop to be formed.

The second film is titled ‘Roots Design Workshop:  From the Isle of Tiree to the Scottish Housing Expo”. This documentary follows Chris and Micheal with a mobile exhibition in August 2010 which celebrates Roots’ first year in practice, and shows a unique insight into the way that Roots practice.

Roots would like to thank Andrew Laing and his producer John for their hard work on these films; it was a pleasure working with both of them. We would also like to offer special thanks to SUST for their support and helping to make these films happen.

Both films can be seen at www.youtube.com/rootsdesignworkshop

Making these films was an exciting and rewarding challenge. It also provided a great insight into how to use different media to communicate an idea.

As such Roots will be using their new ‘channel’ at the above site to present other film clips that we have created or been a part of. These maybe no more than something that has caught our imagination or that we wanted to say. Please keep an eye out for future news items advertising any new films.
