Katie’s Cottage Starts on Site

Katie's Cottage GroundworksRoots are delighted to announce that their first project has started on-site. The sunroom extension for ‘Katie’s Cottage’, on the Isle of Tiree went into the ground in early July.

Roots Director Micheal commented ‘It’s always satisfying when a project you’ve been drawing starts on-site but particularly so when it’s the first project for the practice. Furthermore, we are really pleased that this is being built by a local Contractor for a local Client – we hope this shows that exciting architecture need not be something which is exclusive to the mainland, or something which needs to imported onto the island’.

Roots Director Chris went on to describe the design commenting ‘The project was conceived as a series of planes which focus the view towards Balephetrish beach through a cantilevered corner window. We’ve talked a lot about how effective this could be and we look forwards with interest to seeing it take shape over the summer and autumn.’
