Charity Walk for Shelter

Roots Director Chris Hall will be attempting the Lakeland50 this July on behalf of Shelter.

It is a 50 mile endurance hike over the Lake District fells set within a 24 hour time limit.  It will mean that Chris and his team will have to walk through the night to reach the finish line.  There is also a total ascent of over 3km.  You can find out more about the event here (external site).

Chris has said, ‘As I don’t do this kind of thing every day I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise some funds for a worthwhile cause.  We’ve worked with Shelter before, and we certainly think they are great organisation and deserve as much support as possible.  It should provide a great challenge and therefore hopefully a great reward at the end.  And there are worse places to spend a weekend in the world!’

To give you an idea of what services Shelter provide you can look at their website here (external site).

Chris has set up his own fund raising page at Just Giving (external site).  He went on to say, ‘Just £1 can pay for a 1 minute phone call that will allow Shelter to give advice through their helpline.  So even a small amount can make a difference.’

Micheal, also of Roots added, ‘We wish Chris the best of luck, and hope he returns in one piece!’
