Micheal is the founding Director of Roots and enjoys running the practice from the Isle of Tiree. Micheal’s ambition is for Roots to produce a contemporary architecture which takes inspiration from the people, landscape and vernacular buildings of the Hebrides. In order to achieve this Micheal is engaged with every project in the office and ensures the clients, consultants, builders and Roots staff are working together as a collaborative team.
Colin is an Accredited Conservation Architect who has been a Consultant and mentor for Roots since the practice started. Colin’s ambition is for Roots to grow on the basis of its reputation for efficient client service and the quality of its design product. In order to achieve this Colin encourages research, innovation and the development of the key complimentary skills of each of the team members for the ultimate benefit of the Roots clients and their projects.
Scott is a Chartered Architect and Director of Wham Architects, currently acting as a Consultant for specific Roots projects. Scott is involved mainly in the development of the ecclesiastical projects in the office. Scott’s ambition is for Roots to be at the forefront of sustainable conservation working with congregations and community groups to enable them to realise the potential of their built heritage. Lynne Cox is an Architectural Designer and Saltire Fellow who assists in several key projects and the development of the business from the Isle of Tiree. Lynne’s ambition is for Roots to grow and diversify the business further in order to deliver robust and innovative architectural services and solutions where they are most needed. In order to achieve this Lynne is using her architecture and entrepreneurship training to contribute to the high quality architectural output from Roots whilst exploring new project opportunities for the future.
James is an Architectural Designer and Consultant for Roots, working with Wham Architects in Ayr. James leads on the technical design and drawing issue on many current projects. James’ ambition is for Roots to become further involved in conservation projects and In order to achieve this James is currently studying for his RIBA Part III qualification at the University of Strathclyde. Clare is based in the Tiree office and provides the vital admin support that is essential to any business. Clare’s ambition for Roots is satisfied clients, a busy and fulfilled workforce and a happy bank manager. In order to achieve this Clare is keeping the paperwork up to date and aiming to improve the office efficiency.
Chris co-founded Roots in 2010 before changing roles from Director to Consultant. Chris has worked for Designscape Architects in Bath since January 2014.
