Roots attended a recent conference discussing how to insulate solid wall stone houses in Scotland. The Conference was run by Changeworks, a charity who deliver solutions that enable people to live and work more sustainably, and featured presentations by organisations including Historic Scotland and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings. Read more

Roots attend CAT Self-Build Course

Roots recently attended a course for people interested in building their own timber kit houses. The course, which was held at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in rural Wales was particularly focussed on low-energy solutions which took the whole life of the building into account. This was delivered as a series of lectures and a hands-on project where participants built the structural frame for a new Biomass Teaching Lab. Read more

Over 16/17th Septmeber there will be a open doors event at the Lighthouse in Glasgow’s city centre. Having passed his Part 3 Professional Exam earlier this year, Micheal is pleased to announce that he has been accepted to join the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Read more

 
 

Roots become professionally accredited

Roots are pleased to announce that the practice have joined the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS). Although the practice successfully managed to operate for a year without the accreditation, both practice Directors felt that the qualification helped set a threshold of professional service which Clients should expect. Read more

 
 

Professional Architectural Qualification
