Tiree Business Centre
- Crossapol, Isle of Tiree
- Apr 2011 - Sep 2011
Roots Design Workshop were commissioned to assist the Tiree Community Business Committee in their plans to develop and extend the Crossapol Business Centre on Tiree. The Committee wanted a series of designs to be produced for public consultation, centred on a brief to provide a number of new facilities to enhance the site and support the island community.
The Roots Design Workshop team created 3 designs which demonstrated a range of possible approaches. They included variations on scale, massing, form, materiality, space planning and so on. Studies were also made into environmental performance, site servicing and how the proposed accommodation might be used.
This work was presented to the public in an open exhibition and workshop, at which Roots Design Workshop and the Committee were on hand to discuss all aspects of the project. Feedback from this event allowed the proposals to be consolidated into one design. Roots Design Workshop then took this design, and on behalf of the Clients, consulted with various statutory bodies for their feedback – which was wholly positive.
The project is ongoing and currently going through the funding process.
